HOTTEST DAY NEWS

GET HOT - 2007!
Get ready for the 2007 Hottest Day of the Year Ride! We're going for the world record of the largest water fight ever recorded.  Last year our inaugural ride was quite a success - 900 of you joined us for an awesome afternoon of fun in the sun.  We've got more excitement planned for this year and we hope you'll join us.

Cool down on the hottest day.  Bring a group of friends - let's go for a ride!

WORLD'S LARGEST WATER FIGHT
Join the attempt for the world record: The largest water fight using guns/pistols!  1,173 is the record. Last year we had 900... WE CAN DO IT!  Squirt guns are provided so get ready for action.  No outside guns, soakers or water toys are allowed, so leave them at home or the Water Patrol we come after you.

There's also a No Squirt Zone for those of you who don't like getting wet, but after a fun day in the sun, we think you won't be able to resist squirting your riding buddies.

REGISTER AND SAVE
Save $5 – Register in-store at the following locations by the end of the retail day on Sunday, July 29:
Bike Gallery, Community Cycling Center, Lucky Lab, River City Bicycles, REI. You may also register in advance online or at the start of the event. See our website for full registration details.

Children being pulled may be registered for $15 in advance.  Bring those little tykes along for the ride!

THE ROUTE
The course for for the Hottest Day of the Year Ride is an almost flat, 15 miles, and perfect for riders of all skill levels. We also have a 40-mile loop challenge for those of you want want a more intense ride. The course winds through urban Portland on street and off road paths. All roads are open to car traffic, but we've chosen a nice safe route you'll enjoy. A special stop at the Community Cycling Center will give you a chance to check out their operation, rest and grab snacks and water. 40-mile loop riders have an additional rest stop. Course maps are on our website.

WHAT TO EXPECT
You can expect a pretty awesome day riding through Portland, eating ice cream and squirting your buddies with water (optional) on the Hottest Day of the Year Ride. Bring your water bottle so you can stay hydrated, and come prepared for fun. We'll have a delicious summertime BBQ for purchase at the finish line and plenty of fun for riders of all ages.

This ride benefits the Community Cycling Center, a non-profit organization that teaches bicycle safety to low-income youth.
