FREAK SNOWSTORM PREDICTED!
Just kidding, but given the historically sunny days at The Worst Day of the Year Ride, you never know!

BRING THE WHOLE GANG!
The Hottest Day of the Year Ride has got to be the most fun ride to hit Portland this summer! Summer treats abound on this fresh ride. Water fights are more fun with a crowd, so invite all your friends using the Send to a Friend button here. Together, you guys can cruise through Portland - as fast or as slowly as you like - taking in the sweet sights and scents of summer. The route takes you through Portland neighborhoods, along trails and across the river for 15 or 40 miles, your choice.

Save $5 – Register in-store at the following locations before August 2:
Bike Gallery, Community Cycling Center, Lucky Lab, River City Bicycles, REI. You may also register in advance online or at the start of the event.

RIDER PROFILE : CARRIE BARDER
Twenty-nine year old Carrie Barder is excited to participate in the 15-mile route on the Hottest Day of the Year Ride.
"I always like to take advantage of any good organized outdoor events during the summer - I also don't bike much outside of my usual commute, so it's a chance to get out and try a new route," she says. Carrie adds that she's definitely looking forward to the post-ride water fight and ice cream sundaes.

Carrie's regular riding mostly includes her 10-miles-a-day commute to work or school. This summer she also rode the Tour d'Organics in June on the 30-mile route. For Carrie, rides like the Hottest Day of the Year Ride are a great way to get out with other people, have fun and log some healthy miles.

WATER FIGHT!
Ladies and gentlemen, get your squirt guns ready, it's time for the West's largest water fight, right in the parking lot of the Lucky Lab Brew Hall. If you're water shy, don't worry, we've also got a water-free zone. We'll provide water guns and plenty of barrels of water so you can have a little fun with your riding buddies. What a great way to cool off after a ride! Sorry, super-soakers and oversized water guns are an unfair advantage and are therefore not allowed.

HOW TO HAVE FUN ON THE RIDE
It's really easy to have fun on the Hottest Day of the Year Ride, but to ensure you get the most out of the ride we suggest these tips:

1. Bring friends along to keep you company, the larger your group the more fun you'll have.
2. Bring a water bottle and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Rest stops have water.
3. Decorate your bike.
4. Wear your helmet (required) and follow rules of the road. It's more fun when you can feel safe on the road.
5. Breathe in the summer scene: great views, a cool breeze (we hope) and bright sunshine.
6. Wear sun protection and come dressed for hot weather. It's more fun when you're not burnt and cranky.
7. Bring your appetite and make a huge sundae!
